Announcing: SPA Summer King of the Courts!

Get ready for some competitive summertime pickleball fun! SPA is excited to launch its King of the Courts series, starting the week of May 5th. This is a coed event.

What is King of the Courts?
It's a dynamic format where players of both genders compete in games, with winners moving up a court and losers moving down. After each game, partners split up, ensuring you play with different people throughout the session. Winners on the top "King's Court" remain on the top court, but split for the next game. The goal is fun, fast-paced, competitive play!

Levels & Schedule:

• Two Levels:
  • Premier Level 3.75 - 4.5
  • Challenger Level 3.25 - 3.75

  • The time slots will switch for the second summer session to provide fair opportunities. Keep an eye on the events schedule! 
  • Summer session 1:
    • Challenger - Thursday @ 7:00 AM & Sunday @ 8:30 AM
    • Premier - Wednesday @ 8:30 AM & Sunday @ 7:00 AM
  • Summer session 2 (starts July 28):
    • Challenger - Thursday @ 8:30 AM & Sunday @ 7:00 AM
    • Premier - Wednesday @ 7:00 AM & Sunday @ 8:30 AM

• Format Details:
  • Courts: Played on 3 dedicated courts.
  • Players: Maximum 14 players per session (allows 12 playing and 2 sitting out).
  • Rotation: Losers on the bottom court sit out the next game; players sitting out rotate onto the bottom court. After each game, partners split up, ensuring you play with different people throughout the session. Winners on the top "King's Court" remain on the top court, but also split for the next game.
  • Rules: Standard pickleball rules apply.
  • Scoring: Games are played to 11, win by 1 (to keep play moving).

• Sign Up:
  • Weekly Sign-Ups: Register each week for the session you want to attend.
  • Where: Sign up via the Events Section on the SPA Website.
  • When: Registration opens one week prior to the event date at 1:00 pm (Example: The May 7th event registration opens April 30th at 1:00 pm)
  • Find Events: Look in the SPA website's Events section for complete schedule.
    

Important Note - DUPR & GPN: Participating in King of the Courts will be one way for SPA Club Members to obtain or maintain their Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) via the Global Pickleball Network (GPN). This rating may be important for participation in some future pickleball events at Saddlebrooke. Stay tuned for more information on SPA's planned usage of DUPR and GPN!
