This 4-week lesson program is designed for SPA members that have already obtained a 2.5 Club skill rating level. In addition to refining your basic skills, this program will introduce the concepts of developing a strategy for shot selection and working as a team with your doubles partner.
Please register ONLY if you are able to attend ALL the sessions in that month. If you cannot attend all please sign up for a month when you can. Registration is limited. Register on the Event Calendar
Please wear appropriate attire, wear your name tag and bring your water bottle and paddle.
Below is an overview of the skills and concepts which will be covered during this program.
3.0 Aspirants Skills and Concepts to be covered in class:
DINKING:
Forehand down the Line
Forehand crosscourt
Backhand down the Line
Backhand Crosscourt
SHOT DROPS:
Forehand from transition and baseline
Backhand from transition and baseline
VOLLEYS:
Forehand Volley

SERVES:
Placement and Depth
RETURN OF SERVES:

CONCEPTS TO BE COVERED:
- Knows when to drive or drop 3rd shot.
- Can explain the three hitting zones, (red, and yellow, green)
- Knows when to move forward or stay in current position when their team hits a shot.
- Executes a split step and gets into ready position.
- Does not back up unnecessarily from the NVZ (anchor step)
- Sustains a short volley exchange at the net.
- Understands proper court positioning.
- Moving forward as a team to approach the NVZ in a controlled manner for dinks and volleys.
- Upon completing the program, the student will have to pass a skills assessment and demonstrate proficiency by playing 3 doubles games in order to obtain a 3.0 Club rating. The skills assessment will be completed during the final session of this program. The doubles game will be scheduled outside of this time.
