Are you new to pickleball?
Do you want to start to learn this fun and exciting game?
Are you looking to connect with other active members who are learning to play pickleball?

This 4 week lesson program is designed for SPA members who are new and do not have a Club skill rating level.
This program will give you the basics needed to play games safely.

Please register ONLY if you are able to attend ALL the sessions. Registration is limited. Register on the Event Calendar   
Please wear appropriate attire, wear your name tag and bring your water bottle and paddle.

Below is an overview of the skills and concepts which will be covered during this program. The sessions will be in a small group format.


Skills and Concepts to be Covered in this Class


DINKING:
Forehand: down the line and cross court
Backhand: down the line and cross court

 

VOLLEYING:
Forehand and backhand

SERVING:
From even and odd courts

RETURN OF SERVES:
Using your forehand and backhand


Concepts to be covered:


Understanding of the basic rules of the game i.e. two bounce rule, kitchen line violations
How to keep score
Two serving variations (drop or toss)
Where to stand when serving and returning serve and player position relative to scoring
The most common way to grip a paddle (continental)
Proper ready position
Proper forward and backward movement in a safe and balanced manner
Proper side step movement while being balanced


At the end of the program, the instructor will assess each student’s skills and determine if they have met the requirements for a 2.0 skill level rating
